In 2018 we were delighted to have been awarded Customer Service Team of the Year at the Flavours of Herriot Country Awards. The head judge described her experience here as “This is a true community pub that offers a warm welcome to everyone. It had a lovely atmosphere, was buzzing, and the staff took a genuine interest in the customers. There was an elderly lady enjoying a Sunday lunch on her own and the staff took time to chat to her, and then when she couldn’t quite finish the plate full, they boxed it up for her to take home. I would definitely recommend a visit to sample a home from home welcome. This is a true community pub that offers a warm welcome to everyone.”

The Buck Inn is a welcoming country pub overlooking the green in the beautiful village of Thornton Watlass which is at the entrance of Wensleydale, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It is the ideal base from which to explore this fantastic part of the country whether you are keen walkers, cyclists, sightseers or are simply looking to relax and unwind. We welcome families and dogs, and also offer fishing and golfing breaks.

All our food is made on the premises, using local suppliers wherever possible.Vicki & Tony will have been at The Buck Inn for 6 years, and have completed a total refurbishment of the property. This has included a new kitchen, refurbishment of all the bedrooms, a complete transformation of the function room and garden. The most recent work has included replacing all the windows with double glazing and installing patio doors, to enable better access to the garden.
