The Buck Inn is a welcoming country pub overlooking the green in the beautiful village of Thornton Watlass which is at the entrance of Wensleydale, gateway to the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  It is the ideal base from which to explore this fantastic part of the country whether you are keen walkers, cyclists, sightseers or are simply looking to relax and unwind.  We welcome families and dogs, and also offer fishing and golfing breaks.

The Inn is located just a short distance from the A1 making us a great place for a stop over if you are in the area. The Buck Inn is located amongst a fantastic array of charming market towns and picturesque villages including Middleham, Masham and Harrogate.  Our restaurant and bar is great for relaxing in and offers a choice of locally brewed real ales. All our food is made on the premises, using local suppliers wherever possible.

Tony and Vicki Jowett have recently taken over The Buck Inn and have begun a refurbishment programme, which will include the bar and eating area, bedrooms and bathrooms, the exterior and garden, followed by The Long Room and kitchen. Vicki has worked in the hospitality industry for over 30 years. Her family owned hotels in the North West, and Vicki worked in London for 10 years before moving back up North to manage the family business. Tony, on the other hand, has worked in IT for over 30 years, so this is a complete lifestyle change for him. He has travelled extensively with work, and is now enjoying being at home, in this lovely part of North Yorkshire.

Tony & Vicki have kept all the staff who worked here with the previous owners, and the whole team enjoy welcoming both regular customers and new guests to The Buck Inn.”
